It seems that about every four years I am able to visit my sister in Australia, and that’s just not enough. I miss her every day of my life, but I find solace in these images. I was finally able to convince my husband to take an appropriate amount of time off of work to make this large journey. It’s not for lack of want, but if you know Steven, you know his work ethic is unbreakable. Seeing my son and his cousins interact and shower one another with love, kisses, and hugs was one of the greatest moments. They are our future, our loves — I feel proud they are so naturally filled with kindness and joy for one another. You may see a trend in these photos: it’s all about the kids. I loved documenting every moment of their time together. We visited the Taronga Zoo, walked the city streets of Sydney at dusk, explored Kangaroo Valley and all the natural treasures it had to offer, hiked the most spectacular peninsula for the most beautiful views, lollygagged around my sister’s home of Avalon, NSW, and hosted epic family photo sessions on the beach (all thanks to my sister’s talent at planning and bringing friends together). We did it ALL! I will say no more, just enjoy these photos and may they take you on a wonderful journey as well.
