Bluepoint Wellness CT Medical Marijuana Dispensary//December 4, 2017

I recently had the pleasure of working with Bluepoint Wellness CT, a medical marijuana dispensary in Branford, CT. Bluepoint Wellness provides modern medicines in a safe, professional, and friendly environment. Their new facility is comfortable and well-designed, and the whole staff was a pleasure to work with. We took new interior photographs of their center, as well as portraits of the owner, physicians and staff.

Honeymoon Part II – Naples, Rome and Amalfi Coast//August 3, 2017

Steve and I knew immediately we wanted an Italian honeymoon. We’ve always been fascinated with the food, culture, history and landscape. After a grueling 10 hour flight — neither of us are great at flying — we landed in Naples early in the morning at 6:00AM. We’ve started a nice ritual after we land in a foreign country: check our bags at the train station, find a local cafe for fresh orange juice, pastries and coffee, and head towards a museum at a leisurely pace. As we wander, we always come across something unexpected. First on our journey we stumbled upon Duomo di Napoli or Cattedrale di San Gennaro.

Hours later after lunch, we hopped on the high speed train to Rome and settled into our home away from home for three nights. Sleeping in late, we found the best way to experience the tourist spots was at night. We’d wake and explore by day into the late evening. The cobblestone streets and archways of the buildings always fascinate me. We found our way to the Spanish Steps, and then continued to Promenade Passeggiata del Pincio, a beautiful open park with statues and views of the city. The next two days we spent eating and drinking, and at night we went to the Pantheon, the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain (iphone photos only, sorry)! On our final day, we entered the belly of the beast and visited the Vatican, though with the long lines we decided to view from the outside only.

After our Roman Holiday, we headed back through Naples towards the Amalfi Coast. Thanks to my girl Alycia from CT Eats Out, and chef Matt Wick from Osa, I had all the best recommendations for local spots to eat. We stayed at Hotel Margherita for two nights in Praiano and Il Giardini Dei Sensi in Positano. Trust me when I say we walked more than we ever have before within a week timespan.

As you drive along the coast, every bend through the cliffs becomes more and more beautiful. Try walking those bends and the experience is not quite the same! By day we explored the many “tres chic” beaches that were suggested to us, and at night we walked through the tourist hub of Positano. The beaches aren’t quite what you’d expect — more rocks than sand — but the water is such a beautiful and unique color blue. Many Aperol Spritzes were consumed, alongside every type of seafood and pasta dish on the menu. On our last day, we hiked the Path of the Gods and tried a refreshing acqua fresccaio along the way. Well, we hiked half of it at least — it’s a really time consuming hike and we were more interested in soaking in every last drop of the sun. Italy has it’s hooks in us, and we cannot wait to go back again. To see more photos, click here.

Best Pizza in CT – Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana//March 27, 2017

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana first opened its doors in 1925 and has since been serving some of the best pizza in CT. An immigrant from Maiori, Italy, Frank Pepe located to New Haven in 1909. After working for a macaroni manufacturer and a bread bakery, he set off to start his own business with his wife, Filomena. Their original location is on Wooster Street in New Haven, CT and they have since added six other locations in CT, one in Massachusetts and one in New York.

The original pies are their Tomato Pie (crushed Italian tomatoes, olive oil and grated cheese), and Anchovy. In the 1960’s they introduced their famous White Clam Pizza (Rhode Island little neck clams).

The pizza is not only infamous for its taste, but the way it is prepared. Their hand-made pizza is cooked in a large coal fired oven, resulting in a thin, charred Apizza. As a lead food photographer in CT, I was thrilled to capture these images for CT Eats Out and highly recommend you go try it for yourself today!
